This project was created in response to the brief for the Adult Non-Fiction category set by Penguin for their 2021 Student Design Award. Entrants were tasked with designing a book cover that embodies the themes and message of David Wallace-Wells' essential climate change book The Uninhabitable Earth: A Story of the Future.
Reflecting on humanity’s impact, Wallace-Wells suggests, “Someday, perhaps not long from now, the inhabitants of a hotter, more dangerous, and biologically diminished planet than the one on which I lived may wonder what you and I were thinking, or whether we thought at all.”
The images developed for this project are cliché-verres, created through extensive experimentation to illustrate the vision of The Uninhabitable Earth as portrayed by Wallace-Wells.
